JV Architects was founded over 12 years ago by John Verkaik, a RIBA Chartered Architect with more than 25 years of experience across residential, heritage, community and education projects. Since then, the practice has built a reputation for delivering thoughtful, well-considered architecture with a personal approach to every commission.
We believe the best projects are built on strong relationships. Every client receives personal attention, clear communication and expert guidance from the initial concept through planning permission, Building Regulations and construction.
Although the practice has grown over the years, our values remain unchanged. We continue to approach every project with the same passion, professionalism and commitment that JV Architects was founded upon, creating architecture that is built to last and designed around the people who use it.

John is the founder and principal architect of JV Architects, overseeing all projects from inception to completion. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry, he has established a strong reputation for delivering thoughtful designs and supporting clients across Kent.

Shilong joined JV Architects in 2019 as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant after graduating from the University of Kent. Following his Part 2 studies and experience across a range of practices, he returned to JV Architects in 2023. In 2025, he qualified as an Architect with distinction in his Part 3 at Cardiff University.
Part II Architectural Assistant
Doru completed both his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Kent and has been a with JV Architects since 2016. Meticulous in his approach, he has contributed to a wide range of local projects across various scales and design typologies.
