A very positive experience overall in particular as John and I were working in a very toxic environment given the malicious intervention of 6 neighbours who opposed our extension and were hell bent on sabotaging the build .We worked well together as a team sharing the additional workload this created. Communication between us was excellent. John presented us at the outset 3 potential designs and the one chosen now appears seamless with the existing building and the interior is a delight. Problem solving there was a plenty but John assisted us in overcoming most issues. John's relationship with our planning officer at DDC was paramount in driving through a successful planning application in a Conservation Area against fierce and coordinated opposition. John was a very cost effective option seeing the build through to completion and developing a good rapport with our builder and an eye for detail.

We commissioned John to plan the major refurbishment of a 1930s property we bought in Folkestone, with a tight budget for the amount of work required. He produced detailed drawings and a comprehensive specification of works, which he tendered with a range of builders. He helped us select the most appropriate contractor, obtained the necessary planning consents and worked very positively with the contractors to ensure a smooth implementation within the agreed timescale and budget - this was particularly important as we continued to live in the building throughout most of the refurbishment. He is a very professional and flexible architect, always cost-conscious and looking for innovative solutions to the challenges posed by the contract. While respecting our own ideas, he was also able to recommend the most effective ways of achieving what we wanted. We enjoyed a very good working relationship with him and would have no hesitation in using him again or recommending him to friends.

I have commissioned JV Architects to design plans for an additional floor to a Freehold building in Folkestone. In the first instance I had hoped to develop another unit out of the space. John and his team have come back with plans for two - 2x2 bed/bath apartments - Maximising space and coming up with ideas on there own initiative which had not even crossed my mind. I am delighted with plans and service to date, a modern and forward thinking Architect I would recommend JV without hesitation and plan to instruct them to oversea the whole project right through to completion.

JV Architects carried out a delightful conversion, restoration and re-design of a dilapidated former chapel on Foord Road, Folkestone, to become one of the most delightful and well-appointed community venues in the town. Sunflower House, as the venue is now known, has become extremely popular for a raft of events, courses, meetings and parties. Invariably users remark on the friendly and tasteful aspect of the building, respect having been paid to its 19th century origins while delivering 21-century convenience, light, decor, warmth and usefulness.
