Flexibility as a design aspiration
This former dilapidated coach house is within a conservation area and had an attached listed wall. The new owner wanted to restore the buildings with as much sensitivity as possible. He wanted a special home for himself and his collection of art and interesting antiquities as well as a separate flat for his daughter. This L shaped development formed a sheltered court yard with the existing boundary brick walls and allowed off road safe parking for a couple of cars. The buildings would formerly be used as stables, living accommodation above and haylofts. the front section addressing the Bayle received new timber double glazed conservation windows and new render work.
