A new primary school and nursery for Ash
Location: Ash, Kent
Budget: £2.4 million
Fresh air and plenty of light
Designed as a courtyard building, the class rooms are naturally lit as well as being ventilated from the internal corridors and external walls with cross ventilation. The sports hall uses windcatchers to deliver fresh air into the internal space and also incorporates electrically operated clerestory windows.
The project was designed by John Verkaik whilst working as an employed architect for DASL.
